ULIXES: Universal Language-Independent eXploration of Effects of Speech Cues: Pilot Evidence of SNR-Dependent Multisensory Reweighting as a Novel Clinical Index

ULIXES pilot data demonstrate that visual capture rate under competing cue conditions provides a sensitive, SNR-graded index of multisensory perceptual reweighting, with ongoing data collection targeting clinical translation. Written cues bias what listeners report hearing in noise, and this “visual capture” changes systematically with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). This provides a simple, quantitative index of how listeners shift between auditory and non-auditory information.
