Universal Language-Independent eXploration of Effects of Speech Cues (ULIXES) pilot
We developed an Audio-Visual Cue Measurement Framework that briefly shows text just before presenting a sound token. This allows us to measure how listeners combine auditory and visual cues during speech perception. Here is our VCCA2026 abstract and presentation.
This demonstration allows curious people to complete the ULIXES Quest and compare their results with others. You can do the test on your smartphone or tablet. We recommend to do the test in a quiet environment using earbuds.
Instruction:
- First you need to login to the secure platform. To access the app, enter username: IHCON2026, and access code: ULIXES2026.
- Then choose a username and optionally you can provide your email address
- Lastly you can choose the SNR baseline level. If you have no hearing difficulties we suggest level 1, if you do have hearing problems you can choose level 2-5 with progressively highers SNRs.
